Pros and cons

Pros

  • The entry Allnet Flat plan at €6.99 sits below the site median entry price of €9.30.
  • The Unlimited on demand plan at €19.99 is under the site median of €23.19 for unlimited plans.
  • Sim only, 5G, eSIM and wifi calling are all available on the range.
  • Roaming reaches 33 countries, and EU roaming is included.
  • Support runs on email, phone and help centre, including a phone line and a help centre.

Cons

  • Contract terms run 1 and 24, so the longer option ties a line in for a long stretch.
  • Support runs on email, phone and help centre, with no live chat channel listed.
  • Service is confined to DE, so a line is of no use outside that market.
  • Ranked on entry price, winSIM sits at 132 of 258, in the middle of the field rather than near the front.

Who it suits

  • Light and moderate data users in DE who want a set allowance for a low monthly figure.
  • Travellers who want EU roaming included across 33 countries.
  • Readers who want a choice of billing styles, since billing runs contract and rolling.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Readers who want the host network to be the seller: GETESA is listed as a network seller, while winSIM is an mvno on 1&1.
  • Anyone who only wants a network-run provider: Lonestar Cell MTN is listed as a network seller rather than an mvno.

Plans and prices

Prices start low and stay in the same family across the range. The entry Allnet Flat plan is the starting point at €6.99 a month, and a wider Allnet Flat bundle carries more data for readers who use their allowance hard. Anyone who would rather stop watching data use can take unlimited data through the Unlimited on demand plan at €19.99. The gap between those two figures is the decision to make: a set allowance at the lower figure, or unlimited at the higher one.

Core features

The feature list covers the everyday essentials. Sim only is available, so a line can run without a handset bundle, and 5G access is part of the range. eSIM is supported, which suits people who would rather activate a line on a phone they already own than wait for a card, and wifi calling is available for calls where the indoor signal is weak. Travel is covered too, with roaming reaching 33 countries.

How it compares on our data

Ranked on entry price, winSIM sits at 132 out of 258 brands listed. On the unlimited price the position is 68 out of 173. Both land in the middle of their groups rather than at either end, so the figures are competitive without being the lowest on the table.

The company behind it

The service trades as Drillisch Online GmbH, registered in Germany, so the contract sits with that company rather than with the network whose coverage the lines use. Support reaches customers on email, phone and help centre, giving a phone route, an email route and a help centre for questions about bills, plans and coverage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest plan winSIM sells?+

The entry Allnet Flat plan is the cheapest at €6.99 a month, and it sits below the site median entry price of €9.30. A wider Allnet Flat bundle carries more data for a higher figure, so the cheapest line suits people who rarely lean on their allowance.

How much does unlimited data cost?+

Unlimited data is sold as the Unlimited on demand plan at €19.99 a month, under the site median of €23.19 for unlimited plans. It is worth setting that figure against the mid-sized Allnet Flat bundle, because heavier users on a set allowance can pay less for a similar amount of data.

How long is the contract?+

Contract terms run 1 and 24, so there is a short option and a much longer one in the same range. Billing runs contract and rolling, which means a rolling line is also possible. Readers who expect their data use to change should weigh the long term against the flexibility of rolling.

Which network do the lines run on?+

winSIM is an mvno rather than a network, and the lines run on 1&1. Service in DE is the market covered. Readers who prefer to buy from the network that owns the masts can compare GETESA, listed as a network seller.

Does the plan work abroad?+

Roaming reaches 33 countries, and EU roaming is included on the plans listed, so travel inside Europe needs no separate arrangement. Coverage outside that footprint depends on the network being visited, so a long stay abroad is worth weighing before signing up.

Is an eSIM available?+

eSIM is available, and 5G access is part of the range as well, so a line can be activated on a handset without waiting for a card. Wifi calling is also available, which helps in buildings where the indoor signal is weak. Sim only is offered too, so no handset bundle is required.

How do I get help?+

Support runs on email, phone and help centre, so questions can go by phone, by email or through the help centre, and the phone route suits a line that has stopped working. The company behind the service is Drillisch Online GmbH, registered in Germany, and the contract sits with that name.

Does winSIM sell broadband as well as mobile?+

Broadband is sold alongside the mobile lines on fttc and fttp connections, with download speeds up to 1,000 Mbps and uploads run 5.8 to 40 Mbps. A setup fee of €49.99 applies and a router can be added on request. The broadband price rule is No price increase after minimum term.
