Our verdict
MTEL Macedonia suits anyone in MK who wants a SIM only plan sold by the network itself and is happy to pay for roaming when they travel. Entry sits at MKD 399 a month on the mCONNECT XS plan, and a multi line discount helps households running several lines.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Sim only is offered, so you can keep the handset you already own and take just the network's SIM.
- A multi line discount is offered, which helps a household running several numbers on one account.
- Roaming reaches 43 countries, so trips abroad stay on the same plan.
- Billing covers contract and prepaid, so a prepaid arrangement works alongside a longer commitment.
Cons
- Roaming is paid rather than bundled into the monthly fee, so travel adds cost to the bill.
- Availability sits in North Macedonia, a single market, so the plan carries no weight outside it.
- Billing runs on contract and prepaid, and a rolling arrangement is not among those listed, while yesss! offers contract, rolling and prepaid for readers who want a shorter commitment.
Who it suits
- Readers in MK who want a SIM only plan from the network itself and can commit to 12 and 24.
- Households or small groups that can put several lines on one account and use the multi line discount.
- Travellers who will only need data abroad in a limited window and accept roaming as paid.
Who should look elsewhere
- Readers who want to change provider without a fixed term: yesss! lists contract, rolling and prepaid.
- Shoppers whose only criterion is the lowest starting price: Lonestar Cell MTN lists $0.20.
What it does well
Sim only is the straightforward route in. You keep the handset in your pocket and take the network's SIM, so nothing is tied to a handset sale or an upgrade, and the plan suits anyone already happy with the phone they own. A multi line discount is also offered, which is usually the part that matters most in a household, because extra lines on the same account tend to work out cheaper than each number set up on its own. Travelling is handled through roaming, which reaches 43 countries, so the sensible step is to check your destinations against that list before you sign anything. Put together, the three things a reader is weighing are simple: the SIM drops into an existing device, the discount rewards a shared account, and the roaming reach tells you how far the plan follows you abroad.
Who runs it
MTEL Macedonia dates from 2021, which places it among the more recent names in this corner of the mobile market rather than an old incumbent. Support runs on email, phone and help centre, and that mix suits different moods and different problems. A phone line is the quick route for anything urgent, such as a line that has stopped or a payment that has not gone through. Email is better when a setup problem needs detail written down and a paper trail, and the help centre is the sensible first stop for the small repeated questions about bills and roaming. Whichever you pick, it pays to have your account details and the affected line ready before you start.

Frequently asked questions
What does the cheapest MTEL Macedonia plan cost?+
The entry price is MKD 399 a month, and that figure belongs to the mCONNECT XS plan in the reference plan prices. The listed mCONNECT M plan sits well above it for a larger data allowance, and the terms attached to these plans run 12 and 24. Amounts are quoted in the local currency, so a conversion sits on top for anyone paying from elsewhere.
Is there an unlimited data plan?+
The reference plan prices list no unlimited data option, and the largest allowance shown belongs to mCONNECT L. Plans come with a set data allowance instead, on terms of 12 and 24, so it is worth watching usage against the cap rather than assuming a flat rate for streaming and navigation.
How long is the commitment, and is there a rolling option?+
Billing runs on contract and prepaid, and the contract terms on the listed plans run 12 and 24. A rolling arrangement is not among that list, so a reader who expects to leave at any moment has a reason to look elsewhere, and yesss! offers contract, rolling and prepaid for that preference.
Can I bring my own phone?+
Sim only is offered, so you use the network's SIM in a handset you already own rather than taking a phone with the plan. Nothing in the purchase is tied to a device, which makes it an easy fit if you have recently upgraded and want to keep the phone. A multi line discount is also available if more than one number is moving across.
What does roaming cost and where does it work?+
Roaming is paid rather than bundled with the monthly fee, and it covers 43 countries. That keeps a short trip easy to plan, but heavy map use or a long hotspot session abroad will add to the bill. Checking the country list before departure is the simplest way to avoid a surprise.
Where can I actually buy this plan?+
The plan is sold in North Macedonia, so it is a single-market offer and does not stretch to other countries. Anyone living outside that market needs a local plan, and anyone travelling needs a roaming arrangement on top rather than one plan covering both. For a reader based in the market, the SIM can be collected as part of the sign-up.
Can several lines share the account?+
Yes, a multi line discount is offered and it is aimed at households or small groups sharing one bill. The saving usually shows up when extra lines sit on the same account rather than being opened separately, so bring the other numbers across at the start on the same 12 and 24 terms and ask for the discount to be applied to all of them.
How do I get help when something goes wrong?+
Support runs on email, phone and help centre. A phone call suits anything urgent, such as a line that has stopped or a payment that has not cleared, while email is better for a setup problem that needs details written down. The help centre answers the repeated small questions, so a quick look there before calling can save a wait.
