Our verdict
LMT is the Latvian network, and Independence puts unlimited home data at €15.99 with no contract attached, which suits readers who want roaming included and their bill held flat. Mini starts at €3 and carries no included data, so light users come out ahead.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Unlimited data in Latvia on Independence at €15.99 sits under the €23.19 midpoint for unlimited plans on the site.
- The stated monthly fee is fixed, so the Mini entry price of €3 is the figure that carries into later bills.
- Roaming in the EU is included, and service abroad extends to 212 countries destinations.
- Sim only, eSIM, 5G and wifi calling all come as standard, with a multi line discount on top.
- Support is offered on phone, email and help centre, covering phone, email and a help centre rather than chat alone.
Cons
- Mini, the entry plan at €3, bills calls per use, so anyone who wants data pays the Independence rate of €15.99 instead.
- The contract term on offer runs 12 months, while most sim only listings on the site are month to month (82.4%).
- The network runs in LV only, so the unlimited data allowance stops at the home market.
- Support runs on phone, email and help centre only, with no live chat or community forum in the mix.
Who it suits
- People in Latvia who want unlimited home data without a long tie-in, since Independence runs with no contract attached.
- Travellers who would rather have EU roaming included than buy roaming per trip, with service abroad reaching 212 countries destinations.
- Households running more than one line, since a multi line discount applies.
Who should look elsewhere
- Readers shopping purely on the lowest entry figure, since Lonestar Cell MTN lists from $0.20.
- Anyone who wants rolling monthly billing, because yesss! lists contract, rolling and prepaid while LMT lists contract and prepaid.
Where it sits among rivals
LMT sits mid-table rather than at the front. Ranked on entry price the brand comes 58 of 258, and on unlimited price 55 of 173. The two placements land close together, so the entry figure is not flattering the picture: the same plans hold roughly the same depth in the list on both measures, which for a network seller counts as a steady showing.
Pricing
Entry sits on the Mini plan at €3, which bills calls per use and carries no included data. Independence holds unlimited data in Latvia at €15.99 with no contract attached, and the Freedom bundle adds unlimited calls and texts on top of it. Billing runs contract and prepaid, and where a contract is taken the term runs 12 months. The stated monthly fee is fixed, so the price at renewal matches the price at entry.
What it does well
This is a full network package rather than a stripped data line. Sim only is available, so you can bring a handset you already own, and eSIM, 5G and wifi calling all come as standard. Roaming in the EU is included, and service abroad reaches 212 countries destinations. A multi line discount applies to extra lines. The network operates in Latvia, so the unlimited element of the plan is a home-market benefit.
Who runs it
LMT is run by Latvijas Mobilais Telefons and sells as a network, which means the tariff, the SIM and the coverage all come from the operator that runs the radio network rather than a reseller buying on wholesale. Support is offered on phone, email and help centre, covering phone, email and a help centre for anything that needs more than a quick message.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest LMT plan and what does it include?+
The Mini plan is the entry point at €3 a month. It is a voice plan: calls are charged per use and there is no included data, so it suits a second handset or a light user rather than anyone streaming video. Unlimited data sits on a separate plan in the range.
How much is unlimited data in Latvia?+
Independence carries unlimited data in Latvia at €15.99 a month and runs with no contract attached, so you can stop without serving a term. If you also want calls and texts without limits, the Freedom bundle layers those on at a higher monthly figure.
Does the price rise after a first period?+
The stated monthly fee is fixed, so the figure you join on is the figure that continues. Where a contract is taken, the term runs 12 months and the same rate applies across it, with no separate introductory rate counting down.
Can I get an eSIM, 5G and wifi calling?+
All three come with the plans, and LMT sells as a network rather than a reseller, so the eSIM profile, the SIM and the network settings are issued by the operator itself. A handset bought elsewhere works fine, since Sim only is available.
What does roaming cost outside Latvia?+
EU roaming is included, so travel inside Europe needs no extra purchase. Service abroad extends to 212 countries destinations in total. The unlimited data allowance is a home-market one, so heavy use elsewhere is worth confirming with the operator before you rely on it.
Do I have to sign a long contract?+
Billing runs contract and prepaid, so a contracted option and a prepaid one are both open to you. Where a contract is taken the term runs 12 months, longer than the month to month terms most sim only listings on the site carry. The no contract plans sidestep that term.
Where does LMT actually operate?+
LMT is a Latvian network operating in Latvia, so the plan is a home-market product rather than a pan-European one. Anyone using it as a main line outside the country is on roaming, and coverage abroad depends on the visited network rather than on LMT's own.
How do I reach support?+
Support runs on phone, email and help centre, so phone and email cover quick questions and a help centre handles anything longer. There is no live chat or community forum listed, which for some readers is the deciding factor between two otherwise similar networks.
