Pros and cons

Pros

  • Entry starts at €6.99 a month on a sim only line, so you can try the network without a handset.
  • Billing runs on a contract and rolling basis and contract terms run 1 and 24 months, so short and long commitments both exist.
  • EU roaming is included and data works in 33 countries.
  • An eSIM is available, and 5G plus wifi calling are supported.
  • Support runs on email, chat and phone.

Cons

  • As a mvno on the 1&1 network, BILDconnect has no network of its own, so coverage follows the host.
  • The unlimited plan at €19.99 a month sits at the longer end of the 1 and 24 month range, so it asks for a longer tie-in.
  • On price from, BILDconnect ranks 132 of 258, so it is not the lowest entry price in the comparison.

Who it suits

  • Readers who already own a handset and want the lowest tier price on a 1&1 network.
  • Travellers who want EU roaming included and data working in 33 countries.
  • People who prefer an MVNO with a contract and rolling billing choice over buying from a network shop front like GETESA.

Who should look elsewhere

  • You want to buy from the network itself rather than an MVNO, the seller type network, network and network describe for GETESA, Lonestar Cell MTN and yesss!.
  • You want the lowest entry price in the comparison, where BILDconnect ranks 132 of 258 on price from.
  • You want a short commitment only, since terms run 1 and 24 months and the unlimited plan sits at the longer end.

Pricing

Money starts low and climbs with the bundle you pick. The entry flat plan, the one carrying the smaller data bundle, costs €6.99 a month on a short term, and it is sim only, so no handset is part of the deal. The mid-tier flat plan trades a higher monthly figure for a much larger bundle and a long commitment, which suits heavy users who can accept being tied in. The unlimited data plan lifts the cap at €19.99 a month, also on a long term, with an on demand top up on the same tariff. Because each figure is the monthly price for the term you sign, the short term plan is the only one here that keeps the exit cheap.

Where it sits among rivals

On entry price, BILDconnect sits in the middle rather than at the front. Ranked on price from it comes at 132 of 258 brands on the site, which is steady territory but not the bargain end. The unlimited price reads very differently: at 68 of 173 on that measure, the unlimited plan sits much closer to the front, so heavy data users get a better relative deal here than light users do. Read the two numbers together, because the plan that looks cheap on entry is not the plan that ranks well on data.

What it does well

Everything listed here is sim only, so you bring your own phone or buy one separately. 5G is available on the network, which means a compatible handset gets quicker speeds where the signal reaches. An eSIM is on offer for phones that take one, and wifi calling is supported, which helps on weak mobile signal and over a home broadband line. Roaming is the quiet strength: data works in 33 countries, so trips that go past the usual euro trip still work as you would expect.

Who runs it

BILDconnect is operated by Drillisch Online GmbH, which is based in Germany. That keeps the contract and the company behind it in Germany, so the paperwork is written for this market. Support runs on email, chat and phone, which gives you phone and chat alongside a help centre and email, so a question can be asked in whichever form suits you.

How BILDconnect compares

Frequently asked questions

How much does the cheapest BILDconnect plan cost?+

The entry flat plan, the one carrying the smaller data bundle, costs €6.99 a month and it is a sim only deal, so you bring your own handset. It is also the shortest commitment in the range, which makes it a low risk way to see how the network behaves where you live and work.

What does unlimited data cost at BILDconnect?+

The unlimited data plan is listed at €19.99 a month, with the cap lifted on the tariff itself. It is sold on a long contract term rather than a short one, so the figure is the price for the run of that contract. Check how long you are prepared to stay before you order.

How long is the contract and can I go rolling?+

Terms run 1 and 24 months across the range, and billing runs on a contract and rolling basis, so some plans sit on a contract while others run rolling. Ask for the term attached to the specific plan you want, because the entry plan and the bigger bundles are sold on different lengths.

Is BILDconnect a network or a reseller?+

BILDconnect is listed as a mvno and it runs on the 1&1 network. That means you deal with a separate brand for billing and support while your signal comes from the host network, and the coverage you get follows the host's build.

Does BILDconnect support eSIM and 5G?+

Both are supported. An eSIM is available for compatible phones, 5G is listed on the network, and wifi calling is on as well. The eSIM route suits people who travel often or want to keep an existing number when they switch, and the provider behind it is Drillisch Online GmbH.

Is roaming included in the monthly price?+

EU roaming is listed as included, and data works in 33 countries in total. The two are worth keeping apart: the euro area is the included part, while the wider country list covers trips beyond it. Check that list before a trip outside Europe.

Who runs BILDconnect and how do I reach support?+

The plans are run by Drillisch Online GmbH, based in Germany. Support runs on email, chat and phone, so phone and chat are both open, with a help centre and email as written options. Have your customer number and contract details ready when you make contact.

Does BILDconnect sell handsets with the plan?+

No handset comes with these deals: they are sim only, so you bring your own device or buy one from a retailer. That keeps the starting point at €6.99 a month for the entry plan and lets you keep the phone you already own.
