What is Renewable basis?

In short

The renewable basis is how a supplier backs its green claim, and a power purchase agreement sits apart from certificates.

The renewable basis is the method an energy supplier uses to back its green electricity claim, and the two main approaches work differently. With a power purchase agreement, the supplier buys power from a specific generator for a defined period. With certificates, the supplier buys guarantees of origin or similar instruments to offset the energy it sells. 100Green states ppa, which points to a direct agreement with a generator. Alperia, Aras Energy, Budget Energie and Budget Thuis Internet each state certificates. Neither approach is automatically stronger, so read the basis alongside the renewable share when you compare plans.
