Pros and cons
Movistar Ecuador
Pros
- Lowest starting price of the brands listed here at $1.05, against $0.20 for Lonestar Cell MTN
- An own network rather than a reseller, so support and coverage sit with one company
- Billing runs both ways, contract and prepaid covers prepaid and contract, so you can pick short or longer terms
Cons
- 5G is not offered, and roaming is paid, so the plan set is built for local use
- It runs in EC only, so it is no use as a second network outside Ecuador
- Email and a community forum are not among chat, phone and help centre, so a written answer comes from the help centre, chat or the phone line
Movistar El Salvador
Pros
- On unlimited price the brand ranks 3 of 173 brands tracked, a strong placing for heavy users.
- Sim only, eSIM and 5G are all available, with hotspot sharing on the same lines.
- Data rollover carries unused data into the next cycle, so a light month is not wasted.
Cons
- Contract plans run 24 months, a long tie for anyone still choosing a provider.
- A credit check is required, so approval rests on your file.
- The entry price of $1.25 sits above Lonestar Cell MTN at $0.20.

Questions about each
Movistar Ecuador
What does a plan cost from?+
Plans start at $1.05 for a small data allowance sold without a contract, which is a day-level top-up rather than a monthly bill. Monthly plans cost more in exchange for a larger allowance, so the price you pay depends on how much data you use and how often.
Can I pay monthly or only pay as I go?+
Both. Billing is contract and prepaid, so there are prepaid options and contract options on the same account structure. A prepaid top-up suits irregular use, while a monthly plan suits a steady data habit.
Movistar El Salvador
What do Movistar El Salvador plans cost at the start?+
Plans start at $1.25 a month and unlimited plans at $1.50. On starting price the brand ranks 22 of 258, while the unlimited price ranks 3 of 173 brands tracked. Buyers shopping on entry price should also weigh Lonestar Cell MTN at $0.20.
Which plans are on offer and what do they include?+
The reference plans are Plan Ilimitado Streaming, a contract plan with a monthly data cap, Plan Ilimitado Datos, which is unlimited, and Plan Ilimitado Total, also unlimited on contract terms of 24 months. Unused data carries into the next cycle through data rollover, so a quiet month is not simply lost. 5G and hotspot sharing are supported alongside them.
