What is Exit fee terms?

In short

The wording around leaving early tells you whether a broadband contract charges you for walking away, and how the charge is worked out.

Exit fee terms are the words a broadband provider uses to set out what happens if you cancel before your contract ends, and they tell you whether a charge applies and what it depends on. 1pBroadband charges an early termination fee if you disconnect within the minimum term, so leaving early carries a set cost. Airband says its early termination fees apply if you cancel before the minimum term ends, without naming an amount. BeeBu works the charge out as the monthly bill multiplied by the months left until the contract end date, so it falls as the term runs down. Astound has no cancellation penalty, and Brightspeed charges no early termination fee.
