What is Credit check?

In short

A credit check decides whether a provider will let you sign up before you order, and mobile brands differ on whether they ask for one.

A credit check is a quick review of your credit record that a provider runs before letting you order. It can decide whether you are approved, and some mobile providers ask questions about your finances as part of it. 1pMobile states no credit check is required, and Blau.de also says no. Astound requires one, as do AT&T Mexico and bell. The practical difference is the paperwork: if a credit check is required, expect to have your details looked over before the plan is set up, and if it is not, you can normally order straight away. Check the requirement before you compare tariffs, so nothing slows you down on the day you switch.
